Skip Hire Wales

There are now also many environmental issues that have to be considered. The law governing skip hire has changed within the last year.

Domestic users (or householders) are now liable for fines of up to £5000 if they pick a bad skip hire company.

But how can you tell whether a company is legitimate or not? Easy…

Step 1 – Ask the skip hire company for their Waste Carrier Number. If they cannot provide one, refuse the service, and advise them to speak with the Environment Agency on 0870 850 6506.

Step 2 – If they do provide a Waste Carrier Number, you can check that it’s valid by either…

a) phoning the Environment Agency on 0870 850 6506 and requesting an instant Waste Carrier Validation Check, or

b) checking online at www.environment-agency.gov.uk/publicregister, then selecting Search Now.

Ours is Licensed Waste Carrier Registration Number is SEW/697343 and our
Licensed Waste Transfer Station Registration Number is EAWML 30347

By following these simple steps, not only do you protect yourself legally, you also help the environment by making it impossible for the skip hire cowboys to operate.
